However, a day later, police said that it was not a body but instead a “life-like doll” with clothing, hair, a nose piercing and “markings that resembled bruises and grazes.”

On Sunday, NSW Police said it was investigating the discovery of “human remains” in a suitcase on the side of the road in Oallen, 60km south of Goulburn in NSW’s Southern Tablelands region.
“The body is yet to be formally identified; however, it is believed to be female,” NSW Police said.
Speaking to media, Superintendent Linda Bradbury provided details about the “body”, which she said was “subject to a state of decomposition.”

By the next morning, police shared that the suspected “body” was “not human remains”.
In a press conference, Bradbury said: “They are very realistic in terms of looking like human remains, but we’ve confirmed by other means that they are not.”
Bradbury defended the actions of NSW Police, saying they “have undertaken the processes... of such serious crime to a T”.
“Police confirmed the item located in the bag was a life like doll, wearing clothing, with hair and a nose piercing.”
“The item also had markings that resembled bruises and grazes.”
