The rate of alcohol-induced deaths rose to its highest level in 10 years in 2021, according to new data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
There were 107 more deaths caused by alcohol in 2021 than there were in 2020. This is a 5.8% increase.

The alcohol-induced death rate for females did not change between 2020 and 2021, while male deaths increased by 8.1%.
