Rideshare platform Ola is shutting down its Australian operations, six years after it.

Customers were notified in an email on Monday night. A spokesperson confirmed Ola has also “decided to no longer operate” in New Zealand.

Users in Sydney and Melbourne can continue to book Ola rides until the 12 April. Perth users have already been restricted from the service.

The platform didn’t disclose the reason behind the decision.

Ridesharing app Ola was founded in India before it launched in Australia in 2018.

It had been operating in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and was considered one of a few competitors to rivalin the Australian rideshare market.

When is Ola shutting down?

Customers will be able to access the Ola app and their account information for one month after services cease.

Dedicated customer support services will also end next month.
