Thousands of Australians have been affected by a widespread Telstra outage, with mobile calls and data disrupted and public transport services also impacted.
Telstra said it restored “just under 90%” of services" by 9pm Wednesday, while confirming Triple Zero calls are not affected.
The outage forced the suspension of all Victorian regional train and some NSW regional train services.
Telstra earlier advised affected customers that some calls may connect on a retry.
Here's what you need to know.

In a later update, the telco said most services had been restored, with “data now flowing successfully across the network.”
While the Triple Zero network itself is operational, authorities suggested if customers are affected, they use another phone, landline, or Wi-Fi calling if they need to contact Triple Zero.
Trains
The outage also disrupted regional rail services. Victoria's regional rail operator, V/Line, suspended all train services due to a radio network outage.
V/Line said only "very limited" replacement coach services were operating and urged customers to "defer travel" where possible.
Transport for NSW also said the Southern Highlands and Hunter lines were also suspended, with replacement buses running instead.
