Headlines: H5 bird flu spreads to 4th state

Inflation is increasing at the slowest rate since February, according to new data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Officials have confirmed the deadly H5 bird flu strain has reached a fourth state, after a migratory seabird washed ashore north of Brisbane. At least 13 people are dead after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Japan’s southern island of Kyushu. And today’s good news: Australian sprinters Lachie Kennedy and Torrie Lewis both broke 100m national records with medal-winning performances at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow overnight.
