Headlines: NSW Police to carry long-arm rifles

• The U.S. state of Texas has pushed ahead with an execution using the same lethal injection method that failed in the case of Christa Pike in Tennessee.
• And the good news: A 13-year-old who swam for four hours through rough water to save his family has been awarded one of Australia's top bravery honours.
