Why does the Govt want to lower migration?

Yesterday, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke unveiled the government’s new migration plans, more than a month after he was supposed to.

It comes as the discussion about Australia’s migration system heats up, with Labor, One Nation and the Coalition all vying for votes on one of the country’s most contentious issues.
