In 1986, about one million adults owned shares, and a stockbroker stood between them and the market. The ASX says 11.5 million Australians invest beyond their super and home. Those between 18 and 29 now account for 1 in 5 investors - and, for the first time, the group of people who say that they’re going to start their investment journey in the next 12 months are mostly women. Ultimately, as the ASX CEO said this week, “Australia is a nation of investors”.
