Australian sprinter Torrie Lewis has smashed her own women’s 100 metre national record on the eve of the Commonwealth Games.
The 21-year-old ran 11.04 seconds at a meet in Slovakia on Tuesday (local time), beating her previous record by 0.04 seconds.
Lewis won the race, beating a field that included five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah.

Lewis is a rising star in Australian athletics and set the previous national record of 11.08 seconds at last year’s World Championships in Tokyo.
She also won the 200m on Tuesday in 22.66 seconds, completing a perfect final warm-up before the Commonwealth Games.
In Glasgow, Lewis will contest the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.
