German police have shot and killed the man suspected to be behind a deadly attack on Pride celebrations in Berlin.
Police say a man drove a van into crowds, killing one person and injuring 29 more, on Saturday night (local time).
Prosecutors are investigating the incident as a suspected terror attack.

On Saturday around 10pm (local time), a van rammed into a crowd of pedestrians near the parade.

The suspected attacker fled the scene, sparking a widespread search.

Police identified a 21-year-old German-born man as the suspect in the case.

Authorities are calling the man Abdul B.
On Sunday, around 8pm, the man attacked police with a knife.
Officers shot him and he died at the scene.
Police linked Abdul B. to a van found crashed into a tree close to the Pride celebration.
Motive
Berlin’s public prosecutor’s office shared details of Abdul B’s history, including that he allegedly attempted to join terrorist group ISIS.
In 2025, he flew to Lebanon with the intention to travel to Syria.
He was arrested and sentenced by Lebanese authorities for inciting “religious and sectarian conflict”.
Abdul B. was also awaiting the outcome of a German court case over this incident.
During the trial he said he had “distanced himself from ISIS”.
On Sunday, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt told reporters: “Everything we see here indicates that this was an Islamist terror attack.”
The German Federal Public Prosecutor’s office said it will lead the investigation into Saturday night’s suspected terror attack.
