A magnitude 7.6 earthquake has struck the Tanimbar region of Indonesia, with tremors felt as far as Darwin, which is approximately 600km away.
A seismologist for Geoscience told ABC Radio Darwin it was the largest in the area since 2010, and resulted in 2600 reports of tremors to Australian authorities.
The Bureau of Meteorology said there is no threat of a tsunami to Australia or nearby territories.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred at a depth of 105.1km (in blue below). It was followed by another earthquake at a 5.4 magnitude.
