Former Australian of the Year Grace Tame has responded to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese labelling her “difficult” in a word-association game on Wednesday.
Tame told TDA she “must be doing something right”.

“In the space of two weeks, I’ve been called ‘unworthy’ by a former Prime Minister and continuing supporter of rapist George Pell; ‘absolutely outrageous’ by the Israeli Defence Minister; and ‘difficult’ by our current Prime Minister.

“If I’m simultaneously under the skin of a paedophile defender; a representative of a state accused of genocide; and a national leader aligned with said state, I must be doing something right.”
(George Pell was found guilty of five sexual offences in 2018. The High Court acquitted him on appeal in 2020.)
Albanese has since apologised if there “was any misinterpretation” and said Tame “has had a difficult life, and that was what I was referring to”.
