Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to another 16 years in prison

Former film producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 16 years in prison on top of the 23 years he is currently serving.

The two sentences are for separate convictions. The 23 years are for rape and sexual assault convictions handed down in New York in 2020. The 16 years are for convictions of rape and sexual assault handed down in Los Angeles last year.

The sentences will be served one after the other.

Speaking in court, the victim survivor of the most recent conviction said “everything changed” for her after the crime and “there is no prison sentence long enough to undo the

Damage”. Weinstein, who continues to maintain he was “set up”, begged the court not to sentence him to “life in prison… I don’t deserve it”.

Weinstein, 70, does not have a formal life sentence.
