Wind was the highest-used source of energy in the United Kingdom (UK) from January to March this year.

It’s the first time in history that wind – a renewable energy source – provided the largest share in any quarter of the UK’s history.

The results were compiled by researchers at the Imperial College London, with the lead author calling it a “genuine milestone event” for the country.

Over 40% of the UK’s electricity was from, with fossil fuels providing one-third of total energy.

Wind output was 3% higher than what was recorded from January to March 2022, with gas output 5% lower now than in the corresponding period.
